Welding galvanized metal.....?

I have a 70 amp stick welder and want to know how to weld galvanized metal for auto body/exhaust work. I tried it but I burned through the sheet metal.

Is there specific rods? Specific technique? What about a brazing rod?

Any help appreciated.

Answers:

1first off...zinc fumes will make u sick if you breathe them so try not too. do ur welding outside but not in the wind or with a strong fan blowing....it will blow away the shield gasses from the weld.....DO drink lots of milk it helps u avoid the zinc headache...lastly there are special purpose rods to weld thin stuff with a stick welder. They are available from any where that sells oxygen and acetylene...befor i bought my mig i just torch welded everything that was thin like car bodies....it ain't real hard to learn to torch weld and all u need for rod is wire (i use coat hangers but dont tell my wife)
