is it possible to weld galvanized steel using smaw process



actually i want to weld galvanized steel using smaw process, because it is very difficult to remove the galvanizing, the situation is like this.
can we weld like this to get good quality.

yes. always wear respiratory protection!!!! grind away the galvanized coating first.

you need good ventilation and a respiratory is a good idea. grind away the galvanized coating then you can weld it up with 7018 or if you can't get to all of the galvanized area you might want to try 6011 for root pass then 7018 to finish.
